MICRONEEDLING
DERMAPEN4 ®

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure using very thin needles to make tiny holes in the top layer of your skin. The damage helps stimulate your skin’s healing process. The result is an increased production of COLLAGEN and ELASTIN, resurfacing, retexturizing and overall skin renewal anywhere on the body, from hard to reach areas such as around the eyes, eyelids, earlobes, neck, lips, nose or larger areas of neck and décolleté, stomach and legs.

  •

Indications:

  • Acne

  • Enlarged pores

  • Fine lines or wrinkles

  • Photo-ageing and sun spots

  • Mild scars, especially those from acne or burns

  • Rosacea

  • Stretch marks

  • Alopecia areata (hair loss due to an autoimmune disease)

  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

When to
avoid
micro-needling:

 When you have:

  • Acne or are taking medication for acne

  • Blood disorders or are on anticoagulants (drugs that prevent blood clots)

  • Cancer and are receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy

  • Frequent skin rashes (contact dermatitis) or cold sores

  • Keloidal tendency (your skin forms hard, raised scars)

  • Moles, freckles, skin tags or other growths that change in size or shape, or bleed

  • Skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis

Dermapen4®

In our clinic we use revolutionary micro-needling technology: Dermapen 4.

It is a pen equipped with pentas faceted surgical steel micro-needles that perform continuous, mechanical vertical movements, making micro-perforations (up to 100,000/minute) on the skin stimulating natural regeneration processes. The depth of the needles is adjustable and is set by the doctor based on the patient's needs. Treatments are faster, safer, and less painful compared to other devices.

The treatment with Dermapen 4 consists of 6 steps:

1 - Anamnesis, cleansing, exfoliation
2 - Skin disinfection with non-alcohol-based products
3 - Micro-needling with the Dermapen 4, application of Meso-glide
4 - Uber Pro-peeling (when necessary)
5 - Application of soothing mask and prescription of a specific mask for home use
6 - Application of Vitamin Rich Repair serum based on Vitamin A/B/C/E
7 - High sun protection foundation (Cover Recover)

The duration of the treatment is approximately 60 minutes, but may vary slightly depending on the extent of the area to be treated.

What happens after microneedling?

Microneedling is an outpatient procedure, so you can go home once it is done. Your skin might be red and swollen for up to five days after the treatment. A face mask and post treatment cosmeceuticals help reduce irritation and discomfort. Most people can wear makeup the day after the procedure, but you should stay out of the sun until your skin heals.

What are the risks of microneedling?

Microneedling is a safe procedure, but risks may include:

  • Bruising

  • Scarring

  • Skin infection

It does not carry the risk of skin discolouration, unlike some facial rejuvenation procedures that use heat, light or lasers. This makes microneedling ideal for people with darker skin tones.

Post-care instructions:

It is recommended to avoid wearing makeup for a few days after the procedure. Your skin will be regenerating new skin cell growth so it will need extra protection from the sun, even in winter or in a cold climate. It is very important to wear a broad-spectrum sunblock with a minimum SPF of 30.

You will be provided with a pre- and aftercare program that includes recommended sun protection products and skincare tips.
