THREAD LIFT
PLLA/PCL - PDO
Thread lift is a non-surgical, minimally invasive cosmetic procedure used to lift sagging skin and achieve facial rejuvenation.
This procedure involves the use of special threads made of biodegradable materials that are inserted into the skin and then gently pulled to lift and tighten the skin.
The threads are then anchored in place to maintain the lift.
Thread lifts are commonly used to lift the cheeks, jowls, and neck, and may also be used for brow lifting and to soften lines and wrinkles around the mouth and eyes.
The procedure is quick, simple, and can be performed under local anesthesia, with minimal recovery time.
Which THREAD to choose?
There are several types of threads used in thread lift procedures, including:
- polydioxanone (PDO) threads
- poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA)
- polycaprolactone (PCL) threads
Each type of thread has different properties and is used for different purposes. PDO threads are temporary and dissolve over time, while PCL and PLLA threads stimulate collagen production and can provide longer-lasting results.

How do THREADS work?
The thread lift procedure works in two ways:

1 - The first is fairly straightforward: by threading thin, dissolvable sutures underneath your skin, your doctor is able to pull your skin.
Invisible, painless “barbs” grab on to your skin and make sure that the thread grips your underlying tissue and muscles as the thread is pulled tight.

2 - Once a barbed thread is inserted, your body’s healing response is triggered. Even though you are not injured by the threads under your skin, your body detects a suture material and stimulates collagen production in the affected area. Collagen can fill gaps in sagging skin and restore a more youthful elasticity to your face.
of 100 people who had undergone a thread lift suggested that the primary effect of a thread lift procedure is the skin appearing tighter and more structured. After a year, this effect begins to decrease as the sutures dissolve. However, there was a secondary “rejuvenation” effect that stayed in place and was noticeable 3 years or more after the procedure.
of the literature concerning thread lifts concluded that more research was needed to understand the long-term effects of them, as technology and methods of providing thread lifts continue to evolve.

How long does the effect of THREADS last?

The duration of the effects of thread lift depends on several factors, including the type of threads used, the area treated, and individual factors such as skin type and lifestyle.

PDO threads typically last for 6-12 months, while PLA and PLLA threads can last up to 2 years or more.

Some patients may require touch-up procedures or additional treatments to maintain their desired results.
The Procedure

During the thread lift procedure, tiny threads are inserted into the skin using a fine needle or cannula. The threads are then gently pulled to lift and tighten the skin. The procedure can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated. Local anesthesia or a numbing cream are used to minimise discomfort. The results are immediate, and most patients can return to normal activities within a few days. Some minor bruising, swelling, or discomfort may occur initially, but these symptoms typically fade quickly.

Are there any risks or side effects?

A thread lift is considered a low-risk procedure with minimal recovery time, but there are side effects and a risk of complications.
After a thread lift, it is not uncommon to experience the following:
-
bruising
-
swelling
-
bleeding
-
slight pain at the site of the thread injection
There’s a 15 to 20 percent chance of complications, including dimpling. Possible complications are minor and can easily be corrected.
Complications to look out for include:
-
allergic reaction to ingredients in the threading material
-
visible dimpling or pulling where the threads have been inserted
-
migration or unintended “movement” of the threads that result in bulges or skin that looks lumpy
-
pain under your skin as a result of the thread being too “tight” or awkwardly placed
-
infection at the site of the procedure
Post-procedure recommendations:

-
avoid strenuous activities or excessive facial movements for at least a week.
-
avoid touching or rubbing the treated area and avoid exposure to extreme heat or cold.
-
Ice packs can be applied to reduce swelling and bruising.
-
We will provide specific instructions for aftercare and follow-up appointments to monitor the results of the procedure.
